Council Meeting - 4/1/2024

The Walcott City Council Meeting was held April 1st, 2024 at 7:30 pm at the Walcott Fire Hall.

In attendance were Mayor Vining and council members Brown, Rhodenbough, and Oestreich. Absent was Janowicz. Also in attendance was Kaelen Akvik.

March minutes and February financials were read and approved by Oestreich, 2nd by Rhodenbough. All approved, carried. March financials will be reviewed at the May meeting.

Kalen asked about the letter from city attorney. Vining requested that he contact the city attorney directly with any questions.

Vining presented plans from Jon Rieger, outlining where the new daycare expansion will land, protruding about 7’6” onto city owned property. Vining will continue discussion with the city attorney to ensure all proper steps are taken.

2024 Elections are June 11th, 2024. A polling place is not available in Walcott; however, residents can vote at any polling place in Richland County. To see where the nearest polling place is, visit www.co.richland.nd.us.

Vining will contact WM to setup a date in June for City Clean-up.

Tax Equalization meeting will be on April 11th at 7:30pm at the Walcott Fire Hall.

The road grader will start working on roads once they are dry.

Boyle’s brought forth the question of the alleyway to the North of their house and the possibility of purchasing the property. Vining will contact the attorney to see if this is possible.

Gravel bids will be reviewed at the May meeting.

Water bills were discussed.
