Council Meeting - 5/14/2026

May Walcott City Council meeting was held May 14th 8pm at the Walcott Firehall
 
In attendance Mayor Vining, Council members Brown, Anderson and Janowicz. City Auditor Skoog and Council member Rhodenbaugh were absent
 
April minutes and financials were read and approved on a motion by Anderson, second by Janowicz.
 
Dave Thompson with Northern Prairie Performing Arts attended. Requested approval of yearly gaming permit for charitable gaming at Brewzers. Approved on a motion by Brown and second by Anderson.
 
Luara and Jim Boyer attended to ask what the City is doing to clean up blighted properties. They want to sell their home, but feel these properties could negatively affect the selling price. The Council is working to update ordinances to address these issues. Current issue is with our City Attorney. We will be working to address the Attorney issue, and then move forward with updating  our ordinances.
 
Jeremy Alm attended to update the Council on the former J&J Calibration building and to thank the City for the support over the years.
 
Mayor Vining reported there has been issues with getting City Attorney Brittany Hatting to make progress on City requests. Council agreed we need to ask her if she has the time to address our issues, or do we need to look for a new Attorney. Mayor Vining will talk with her.
 
Council member Anderson updated the Council on the Veterans Memorial at the Cemetery.
 
On a motion by Brown and second by Anderson the May meeting was adjourned.
