Council Meeting - 5/4/20

​The Walcott City Council Meeting was held May 4, 2020 at 7:30 pm via Zoom, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, as posted on the Fire Hall door.
In attendance were Mayor Vining and council members Bennes, Brown, Rhodenbaugh, and Oestreich.
April Minutes were read and approved by Rhodenbaugh, 2nd by Oestreich. All approved, motion carried.
The Church property has been surveyed and lot lines have been marked. Vining will mark where the new Master Lift Station project will need access before church approval.
A major water leak was located under Sortland’s property on 4th street. The water is currently shut off until it can be fixed. City will purchase a new curbstop and the resident I s responsible for repairs.
The county has placed a barrier on 4th street where a culvert appears to be caving in. No further information is available from the county.
Regular yearly maintenance has been performed on the city’s mowers, ready for summer activity.
Spring Clean-up is currently still on hold until further information can be obtained from Waste Management.
A building permit was issued for the construction of a new house on the empty Fowler lot. The City will take care of replacing the old curbstop.
Discussion was held regarding the two gravel bids received by the city. TJM bid $15.50/yd delivered, and Rustad’s bid at 16.25/yd by semi and 17.50/yd by dump truck. Bennes motioned to accept the bid made by TJM at $15.50/yard delivered, 2nd by Brown.  All approved, motion carried.
Brown volunteered to install the new city informational board near the Post Office.
Bennes motioned to designate the Wahpeton Daily News as Walcott’s official newspaper, 2nd by Oestreich. All approved, motion carried.
The 2021 City Budget was presented to the board and discussion was held. Motion by Rhodenbaugh to accept the proposed budget, 2nd by Bennes. All approved, motion carried.
Water bills were discussed.
Next Meeting June 1, 2020.
Oestreich motioned to adjourn, Rhodenbaugh 2nd. All Approved, motion carried.
